Members of the CFCPD were active participants of acquiring, planning and developing a vacant parcel which is now the site of the first community garden in Tampa Heights Neighborhood. This development was made possible through the members affiliations in various other committees involved in this effort. Amongst those organizations are the Tampa Heights Junior Civic Association, Tampa Heights Civic Association, Tampa Heights Neighborhood Plan Stewardship Team, Central Florida Community Planning & Development, Inc. (CFCPD), Tampa Garden Club and Metropolitan Ministries. Each organization came together to form a coalition capable of being a community garden to the Tampa Heights neighborhood.

Each organization came together to form a coalition capable of being a community garden to the Tampa Heights neighborhood. This Community Garden has the support of Florida Department of Transportation who are the land owners and The City of Tampa. The idea of a Community Garden was derived from the Tampa Heights Community Neighborhood Plan. Some of the elements of our Neighborhood Plan are establishing green spaces as a purpose for bringing the neighborhood jointly towards a common goal.
